Aoife is a pre accredited Play Therapist and currently enrolled in the MA in Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy, and a trainee Psychotherapist.
Aoife has worked for over 10 years with children in an educational and care capacity. She has worked both in Ireland and abroad in this area. After completing her degree in Early Childhood Education and Care, Aoife began studying creative approaches with the Level 8 Certificate in Principles and Theory of Art Therapy then moved towards the power of working therapeutically through play with the Postgraduate Diploma in Arts in Play Therapy.
The integrative approach to play therapy that Aoife adopts allows her to provide individualised support to meet the needs of each child and adolescent. Play is a medium with which children can express their inner world through symbolic representation with toys. Play during play therapy sessions are utilized as a means to prevent psychosocial disorders or as a treatment for anxiety, grief and loss, bullying, parental separation, low self esteem, behavioural difficulties and support to enhance development.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Arts Hons Degree in Early Childhood Education and Care, Institute of Technology Carlow.
Level 8 Certificate in Principles and Theory of Art Therapy, Cork Institute of technology and Crawford College of Art and Design.
Postgraduate Diploma in Arts in Play Therapy, Children’s Therapy Centre.
Currently enrolled in the MA in Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy specialising in Play Therapy, Children’s Therapy Centre.
